Repurpose a Yard Storage Shed

Would you just love to have your own space to use for some quiet time, working space, or crafting space? No place in the house for this? Why not make a personal 'room' out of an 8' x 5' Shed with 1 Window ? I Have seen this done before, and if I had the space in the back yard, I would so have one of these. You can use them for a craft room, art studio, get-away room, anything. This size may not sound very big, but good space utilization is the key here. The gal that I adopted my Chihuahua 'Chip' from uses one of these as her office and it works just great. She has a small desk and 3 chairs in it, along with some dog supplies.

Once you have decided how you are going to use your 'away cabin', it's time to decorate it. You can put a carpet or area rug on the floor, decide the furniture pieces you want in it. This unit comes with some shelving, so you can make use of it for essentials. If you are going to use it in the evening, you can get some Battery Operated lighting if you won't have it wired for electricityNeed a small writing/computer desk ? Add a nice comfy swivel recliner for reading or a nap. If you want some elegance, you can get some tension rods and hang some nice drapes on the walls.

If I were lucky enough to have one of these in the back yard, my hubby would run the electricity to it for me, and that way I could use it for a sewing room or craft area.

All in all, it makes a nice little personal space for whatever use. If you wanted larger you could get this 8-by-10-Foot Outdoor Storage Shed with Windows, Skylights, and Shelving. This one could even be decorated up and used as a guest bedroom.

Now that you have your 'hide-away' set up, you can do your landscaping around it. Put in a pathway in front of it, or a nice little patio. Plant your favorite bushes and flowers around it. Set it up just like you would do with any house. It should be fun, inviting and a jewel in your yard.

Here is a tutorial on a yard shed being turned into a retreat. This is a wooden structure and larger than we are talking about here, but it gives some good ideas for you to work with.

Once you get an idea, find some creative ways to work with it. Your imagination can take you where you want to be and help you create just what you want.
