Sourdough Biscuits and Gravy | Recipe

I have my sour dough starter going. I got it all mixed up and decided to put it into the jar I keep it in. Bad idea. I had to take some of it out and put it into another container till it slows down some. Note to self and viewers. Leave your starter in the bowl for a while, or it will do this to you! My jar runneth over, but boy do I know that starter is happy and working. It was only up to where the jar starts sloping in.

Sour dough starter is very easy to make.
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast

Mix it together in a bowl large enough to let it rise and work. I put a piece of plastic wrap loosely over the top. Don't cover it tightly, or you will have a blow out! Let this work for a few days, or even just overnight in the fridge, and you can use it the next day.

This is a great recipe and tutorial for how to make sourdough biscuits.

Pan white sausage gravy

I am using some leftover smoked sausages that I have from last night's dinner. I grind them up in my new Ninja BL771 MEGA Blender (which I love) until they are a good size for gravy, but not too small.

2 TBS all purpose flour
2 TBS butter or margarine
2 cups milk
salt & black pepper to taste

Put the butter in a frying pan over med-high heat. When it is melted, add the flour and whisk it in. Begin adding your milk while you are whisking until it is well incorporated.

Bring it to a boil, then turn the heat to low and let it simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add the sausage. Add any salt and/or black pepper that you want.

Split your biscuits in half and put gravy over them. Serve hot. YUMMY!
