How To Season Cast Iron

I have had many people tell me they don't like their cast iron for cooking. Most of them didn't realize you need to season cast iron to get that non-stick finish. I love my cast iron as do most serious chefs. Once your pan is seasoned it offers the most even heat for cooking than any other pan you own.

WikiHow gives great step-by-step instructions on how to do this. Also if you have an old rusty set you found at a garage sale or have just stored forever, it's only one more step to make them as good as new.

Update: recently I have starting using flaxseed oil to season and I love the results.
