How to Use Nutritional Yeast as a Cheese Substitute

With B-vitamins, folic acid, selenium, zinc, and protein, nutritional yeast is packed with nutrition. It’s also  gluten-free, low in fat, and has no added sugars or preservatives. You find it in many vegan diets especially the brands that contain B12 such as Bob's Red Mill Large Flake.  Check your labels, not all brands contain the B12.


Nutritional Yeas is best known for it's cheesy flavor and is used often to make a vegan cheese sauce which is used in pasta dishes or a base for dips. It is also described as nutty and savory and often used in eggless scrambles to give the recipes a more cheesy and eggy taste. Add to soups and gravies to add richness, sprinkle on pasta or add to mashed potatoes.
Use the powdered version for a low fat, natural and cheesy sprinkle for popcorn.
